Finding the right moisturizer is not an easy task. As our skin changes through times, it is wise to adjust our routine, including our moisturizer, based on what our skin needs at that particular time. During the wintertime, we may need something more occlusive and creamy, while when the weather is hot and humid outside, we want nothing but a light, cooling, and fast-absorbing gel moisturizer. If you are looking for something super light but yet infused with a lot of amazing antioxidant-rich ingredients that you can place in your routine anytime during the year, let me introduce you dear, Klairs Fundamental Water Gel CreamFundamental Water Gel Cream Insert Image 1 Dear, Klairs Fundamental Water Gel CreamWater Gel Cream Insert Image 3 The texture inside the Fundamental Water Gel Cream

Key Ingredients:

  1. 1. Green tea water

63.7% of green tea water is sourced from Jeju island in South Korea. Green tea water is very rich in polyphenols with high antioxidant properties. Another constituent of green tea called the EGCG has been proven to be beneficial for acne-prone skin.
  1. 2. Panthenol

Also known as a provitamin B5, it can be found in a lot of hydrating skincare products due to their water-retaining properties. On top of that, it can help soothe down any irritation and redness.
  1. 3. Rice Extract

This popular traditional plant ingredient has been used for centuries and considered as the Asian beauty secret. Rice extracts are well known for their hydrating and brightening properties.
  1. 4. Centella Asiatica

Texture and finish

[caption id="attachment_373272" align="aligncenter" width="800"]Water Gel Cream Insert Image 2 The texutre of the Water Gel Cream[/caption]All products from the fundamental line have a pretty unique and surprisingly light texture to it including this one gel-cream product. As you open the product, you can see how light and bouncy the product is. It is honestly one of the most satisfying things to see and do, as you scoop the product and swirl the spatula in it. It really reminds me of very soft tofu pudding. It has a very light, liquid gel-emulsion texture that spreads so easily on the skin. A little goes a really long way with it, just a scoop of this can mostly cover my whole entire face. It sets pretty quickly and leaves that layer of occlusive to lock in that moisture with a dewy finish. I am actually quite surprised that despite its’ light consistency it can actually deeply hydrate my skin.

Packaging

It comes in a 70ml plastic jar with a spatula. Not the most travel-friendly packaging option out there, but you can easily transfer it to a travel-sized jar anytime you need to. The only thing that is bothering me is since the consistency is super light, you have to be extra careful while handling the opened jar, as you may spill the product if you are not careful with it.

Scent

Looking at the ingredient list, this product is unscented and contain no fragrance in it. It almost smells like nothing but has a hint of natural plant extracts scent in it.

How I use it

I use the product day and night and whenever I do feel like I need that extra boost of moisture in my routine. In the morning, I layer them before my sunscreen and at night I use it as a moisturizer to lock in everything. If my skin is feeling more dehydrated, I like to layer this product twice to make them as a multi-purpose overnight/sleeping maskWater Gel Cream Insert Image 5 How the Fundamental Water Gel Cream applies on the skin

Final Verdict

I do think that this product has a place in everyone’s routine no matter their skin type. It is infused with multiple antioxidant-rich ingredients and we can’t forget about the textural experience it offers.  Although, I do think that anyone with normal-combination skin, will more likely appreciate the texture and finish. My oily-combination skin loves how it sets easily, provides moisture without leaving any greasy residue behind. It does help calm down any redness or irritation on my skin, if there’s any.If you don’t like to layer products and you want something short and quick, this one would be perfect. Light yet hydrating, but full that skin-benefiting ingredients. It will help seal in that water on your skin while soothing down any redness or irritation you have on your skin due to product mishaps or too much time in the sun. However, for those with drier skin type, you can add a layer of this product in between your regular routine (or before your regular moisturizer) to add that boost of moisture. Overall, a pretty wholesome product in one jar!
